Section 230 platform liability

Section 230 liability exposure is an active pressure point for financial services firms that operate discussion platforms, social trading features, or user-generated content tools. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau have both signaled scrutiny of platforms where user content intersects with investment advice, product recommendations, or credit decisions, and congressional proposals to narrow Section 230 immunity would strip a defense that many fintech and brokerage platforms currently rely on. Compliance teams are auditing terms of service and moderating-content policies now, before any legislative text advances to a floor vote.
